Man impersonating police being sought

The Hagerstown Police Department was asking the public for assistance in an investigation into a police impersonation.

Detective Tammy Jurado said a man in a late-model, blue Chevrolet Cavalier used a blue bubble light to pull over another vehicle at 11:05 p.m. on Dec. 6 in the 300 block of South Burhans Boulevard.

Jurado said the man approached the car of the victim, who was not identified by name, but ran back to the Cavalier and drove away after apparently mistaking the man's security uniform for a police uniform.

Jurado described the man as a 5 feet 9 inch, 180-pound white man with a handlebar-style mustache and a possible goatee. He was wearing a dark-colored, waist-length jacket and a dark-colored baseball cap, Jurado said.

Police ask that anyone with information on the incident or anyone who was a recent victim of a similar incident contact Jurado at 301-790-3700, ext. 246.
