Garden club decorates library's Christmas tree

December 09, 2003

CLEAR SPRING - A new tradition was born this year.

The Christmas tree at the L.P. Snyder Memorial Library was decorated this holiday season by the members of the Clear Spring Garden Club in what is hoped will be an annual undertaking by a different group each year.

Led by garden club member Pam Briggs, the club made pine-cone angels and garlands, stenciled and stamped paper ornaments, stars from twigs and created mini-wreaths for the 9-foot tree.

Club members gathered the day after Thanksgiving to put the decorations on the tree. Among those participating were Briggs, club president Cindy Downs, and members Toni Hose, Isabelle Stottlemyer, Jane Kriner, Linda McNamee, Louise Stottlemyer, Carolee Kelley and Tena Lane.

Also helping in the decorating were Emily Myers and Kyle Downs.

Last year, the tree bore only lights, according to Downs.
