Slide gate may be installed at park entrance

FUNKSTOWN - The Funkstown Mayor and Town Council on Monday voted 6-0 to consult with Horst Fencing Service Inc. of Hagerstown to install an estimated $900 slide gate at the new entrance to the town park, along the edge of Beaver Creek Road.

Assistant Mayor Paul N. Crampton Jr. said the gate would be 21 feet wide and the cost to install it would include repairing fencing that sits on either side of where the proposed gate would sit.

He said he would talk to Horst Fencing before Christmas and hopefully get the gate installed in January.

"(The gate) would have to be open and shut every day," he said, adding that in the winter, the gate wouldn't necessarily need to be closed as often.

"It's going to be needed," Council Member John Phillips III said.
