Viola M. McCoy


WILLIAMSON, Pa. - Viola M. McCoy, 70, of 5605 Cedar St., died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Aug. 22, 1933, in Harrisonville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Chester C. and Nannie Kearns King.

Prior to her retirement, she was a seamstress for clothing factories in the area.

She attended St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Williamson.

She is survived by her husband, William D. McCoy; one daughter, Deborah K. Condon of Sumas, Wash.; three sons, Gary McCoy of Williamson, Terry McCoy of Mont Alto, Pa., and Donnie McCoy of Waynesboro, Pa.; one sister, Alma B. Seville of Newville, Pa.; one brother, Dale King of St. Thomas, Pa.; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Harry King.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Williamson. The Rev. Allen Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, St. Thomas, which will be open from 2 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church.




John L. Wallach


John L. "Blue" Wallach, age 61, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of 544 George St., died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born in Hagerstown on Nov. 23, 1942, he was the son of the late John Adam and Anna Catherine (Poper) Wallach.

He was employed with Craig Paving and was a member of the Salvation Army Church, where he was a member of the Men's Fellowship Club. He was an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed his dog named Blackie.

He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Burkholder of Greencastle, Pa.; and four brothers, Charles Wallach, Arthur Wallach and Ben Wallach, all of Hagerstown, and John A. Wallach of Maugansville, Md.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Repp and Mary Ricker.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Salvation Army Church, 534 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown.




Ruth E. Pepple


Ruth E. Pepple, 82, of Hagerstown, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Feb. 5, 1921, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Luther Calvin and Anna Elizabeth Nail Woodring.

She retired from Ross Garment in Hagerstown, where she was a seamstress with more than 20 years of service.

She is survived by one daughter, Doris Poffenberger of Liberty, Mo.; one son, Larry L. Pepple of Hagerstown; one sister, Mae Ridge of Leitersburg; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Eugene F. Pepple; and four brothers.

Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, North Potomac Street, Hagerstown. The Rev. Dale R. Carver will officiate. Burial will be in Antietam Cemetery, Waynesboro.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742; or Hagerstown Union Rescue Mission Inc., 125 N. Prospect St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.




Nora E. Holland


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Nora E. "Betty" Holland, 74, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at City Hospital.

Born Nov. 7, 1929, in Lock Haven, Pa., she was the daughter of the late C.P. and Blanche Hunter Dingler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond F. Holland.

She is survived by one daughter, Ann McKeel of Chesapeake, Va.; two sons, David Jenkins of Stephens City, Va., and S. Drew Jenkins of New Market, Md.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. Pastor Eric Farel will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Charles W. Rowland


INWOOD, W.Va. - Charles W. "Bill" Rowland, 81, of Inwood, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Shenandoah Health Village Center in Charles Town, W.Va.

Born Feb. 28, 1922, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late David and Mary Collis Rowland.

He retired from 3M Co.

He was a member of Inwood United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Moler Rowland; one daughter, Jill Rowland of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; one son, Jay W. Rowland of Hedgesville, W.Va.; and one sister, Virginia Miller.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Rowland.

Services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at South Berkeley Chapel, Inwood. The Rev. Vicki Dotterer will officiate. Burial will be in Gerrardstown (W.Va.) Presbyterian Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
