Diabetes education program


A Diabetes Control Education Program will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 13, 20 and 27, and Feb. 3 and 10, at Washington County Health Department, 1302 Pennsylvania Ave., 2nd Floor Auditorium, Hagerstown. The cost is $10.

Stroke-risk screening


Life Line Screening will have a stroke risk screening Monday, Dec. 8, at Bethel Assembly of God, 515 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. Appointments begin at 9 a.m.

Stroke is ranked as the third leading killer in the world, and the second among women. Through preventive screenings, the risk of having a stroke can be greatly reduced.

Each screening requires 10 minutes or less to complete. A complete vascular screening package, including the stroke/carotid artery, abdominal aortic aneurysm and ankle brachial index (hardening of the arteries) is $99. Sign-up for a complete vascular package, including the osteoporosis screening, and pay $125.
