Kenneth R. Shockey


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Kenneth R. "Kenny" Shockey, 25, of 15955 Hollowell Church Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, near Hagerstown, the result of a motor vehicle accident on Western Maryland Parkway.

Born July 27, 1978, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Michael H. and Cindy Bingaman Shockey of Waynesboro.

He was a 1996 graduate of Greencastle High School and attended Shippensburg University.

He was employed as a driver by Coca-Cola in Hagerstown.

He attended Glen Furney Assembly of God Church in Waynesboro.

He was a member of Gold's Gym in Chambersburg.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Nicole R. Murphy of Waynesboro; maternal grandfather, Frank Bingaman of Waynesboro; his maternal grandparents, Lester and Gladys Beltz of Waynesboro; his paternal grandparents, Henry and Hazel Shockey; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Pastor Alan Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Harbaugh Church Cemetery near Rouzerville, Pa.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.




Faybelle I. Colston


Faybelle I. "Fay" Colston, 75, formerly of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Dec. 25, 1927, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late Catherine May Palmer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard D. Colston, in 1989.

She retired as a seamstress from Hoffman Clothiers in Hagerstown.

She was a member of Tomahawk Christian Church in Hedgesville, W.Va.

She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 694 Ladies Auxiliary of Hagerstown.

She is survived by one daughter, Richie D. Short of Hedgesville; three brothers, Lawrence Guessford of Faith, N.C., Wayne N. Palmer of San Diego, and Albert Guessford of Middletown, Ohio; one sister, Freda Smith of Hagerstown; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Deanna F. Funk; and one brother, Frederick Guessford.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, North Potomac Street, Hagerstown. Lee Ashley will officiate.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11:45 a.m. at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone, Md.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edna M. Smith


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Edna M. Burns Snowberger Smith, 85, of Ringgold Street, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, from injuries received in a pedestrian and motor vehicle accident that evening in Fairfield, Pa.

Born Jan. 21, 1918, in Smithsburg, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Harriet C. Seifert Burns.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick W. "Fred" Smith, in 1994. They were married July 30, 1964.

She attended Smithsburg schools.

She worked for Landis Machine Co. during World War II.

She was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Waynesboro.

She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 1758 Ladies Auxiliary of Waynesboro.

She is survived by two daughters, Delores Ott of Greencastle, Pa., and Connie Cauwels of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; four sons, Wallace Snowberger of Waynesboro, Mark Snowberger of Georgetown, S.C., and Lamar White and William Snowberger, both of Chambersburg; two sisters, Betty Freeman and Beulah Reed, both of Waynesboro; one brother, Elmer Burns of York, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and her companion, Ivan Bollinger of Gettysburg, Pa.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Vivian Burns, Hilda Calimer, and Kathleen Smith; and one brother, Richard Burns.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Pastor Bill Schuit will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.

It was her request to have no public viewing; the family will receive friends Sunday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kevin M. Chung


Kevin Michael Chung, of Hagerstown, Md., suddenly entered into rest on Dec. 3, 2003.

Kevin was born in Rochester, N.Y., on Sept. 10, 1959 to the late Fitzgerald R. Chung and Dorothy E. (Campbell) Chung.

Kevin was preceded in death by an elder brother, Robert.

Kevin became a resident of Hagerstown in 1995, where he became employed at the Stationary House. Kevin was currently employed with the City of Hagerstown as a mail carrier, and was a favorite to many. He was deeply loved and will be sadly missed.
