A Waynesboro, Pa., man and a Canadian trucker died in separate accidents on Washington County roads Wednesday morning, Maryland State Police said.

Kenneth R. Shockey, 25, of Hollowell Church Road, died when his Jeep Wrangler collided head-on with a car at 6:15 a.m. on Western Maryland Parkway, police said.

Shockey's Jeep crossed the center line of Western Maryland Parkway south of First Data Corp. and struck a northbound 1994 Camaro driven by Galina Schrock, 20, of State Line Road in Waynesboro, Pa., police said.

Schrock, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated at Washington County Hospital and released, according to police.

Shockey was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

Less than four hours later, an accident on U.S. 522 near Hancock claimed the life of Lisa M. Fay, 34, of Windsor, Ontario.

Forensic investigator Thomas Wetzel pronounced Fay dead at the scene of the 9:36 a.m. accident.

Police said the left front tire of the 1998 Volvo tractor Fay was driving struck a concrete curb on a right-hand curve and the trailer, loaded with auto parts, overturned.

The skidding rig struck a northbound 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by John W. Travers III, 58, of Damascus, Md., police said.

Fay was partially thrown from the cab and pinned beneath it, police said.

Travers and his passenger, Martin E. Russell, 57, of Monrovia, Md., were not seriously hurt and required no medical treatment, police said.

Traffic was slowed in the area as troopers investigated the accident and crews removed the rig from the road, police said.

Troopers ask anyone with information on either crash to contact investigators at 301-739-2101.
