Plat approval given for Twin Ridge

The Washington County Planning Commission on Monday gave preliminary plat approval to a 90-semi-detached unit residential development proposed for the Maugansville area.

Senior Planner Tim Lung said a semi-detached unit consists of two homes separated by a common wall.

The development, known as Twin Ridge, would be located along the north side of Reiff Church Road. The property is zoned residential multifamily.

The density of the proposed development would be 5.63 units per acre, Lung said.

Lung said improvements to Reiff Church Road would be needed to accommodate the development.

The Hagerstown Regional Airport Advisory Committee has objected to the proposed development because it would be near the airport, Lung said.

Planning Commission member Donald Ardinger said the development primarily would be affected by take-off traffic.

Lung said the planning department has required that a notice be included in the deeds of the homes, so buyers are aware of any issues that may arise as a result of the development's proximity to the airport.
