Pa. man in serious condition after wreck

FANNETTSBURG, Pa. - A 40-year-old Doylesburg, Pa., man remained in serious condition Wednesday evening following a Fannett Township traffic accident.

Edward Umbrell was listed in serious condition Wednesday at Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Umbrell was injured in a two-car crash at the intersection of Pa. 75 and Goshom Road at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, Pennsylvania State Police said.

City police looking for missing teen

Hagerstown City Police were seeking help to find a missing girl who was last seen Nov. 22 at her Hagerstown home.

Tiffany Brook Winters, 16, was described as being 5 feet, 1 inches tall and weighing 112 pounds, with blue eyes and straight, blonde hair that falls below her shoulders. She has a thin build and a fair complexion, police said.


Police ask that anyone with information on her whereabouts call Detective Patricia Moulton at 301-739-8577, ext. 281.

Windows smashed at area high school

Windows at a sports complex building at Boonsboro High School were discovered smashed Tuesday afternoon, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.

Damage was estimated at $450, but it did not appear that anything was taken, deputies said.

Activities limited on Potomac River

Recreation on the Potomac River and its tributaries should be curtailed through Thursday, according to a release from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

The agency said the Potomac between Cumberland and Little Falls should be avoided by boaters, swimmers and anglers due to conditions that include hypothermia-inducing and treacherous currents.

The warning does not apply to professionally-guided trips or experienced white-water paddlers.

Williamsport man struck by vehicle

WILLIAMSPORT - A Williamsport-area man was hurt Tuesday when he stepped into the path of a car while crossing the road in front of his home, Washington County Sheriff's Department deputies said.

Richard Joseph Weber, 49, of 15213 Clear Spring Road, was admitted to Washington County Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said. His condition was not available Wednesday.

Weber stepped into the path of a vehicle being driven east by Debra Grubbs, also of Clear Spring Road, Williamsport, police said.

No charges will be filed, police said.

Woman charged in Waffle House stabbing

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Martinsburg, W.Va., woman was charged with malicious wounding Wednesday in an Oct. 5 stabbing at the Waffle House Restaurant, Martinsburg Police said.

Lakisha Michelle Lockley, 21, of 304 Berkeley Garden Drive, Apt. 201, was being held at Eastern Regional Jail Wednesday on $5,000 bond.

Sabrina Cook was stabbed three times with a knife at the South Foxcroft Avenue restaurant, police said.

Police had a warrant for Lockley's arrest and said she turned herself in Wednesday morning.

Helicopter, dogs being used in police search

BOONSBORO - Authorities were using a helicopter and police dogs to search for the person involved in an assault in the Boonsboro area Wednesday afternoon, the Maryland State Police Aviation Division said.
