Woman injured in I-70 crash


A woman was taken to Washington County Hospital after her vehicle overturned on eastbound Interstate 70 Monday morning, according to Maryland State Police.

A Nissan passenger car flipped in the median near the Sharpsburg Pike/Md. 65 exit at about 8:20 a.m., police said. The woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.

No further information was available.




Sports memorabilia stolen


The Washington County Sheriff's Department received the following crime reports over the weekend:

  • More than $10,000 in sports memorabilia, jewelry and electronics was reported stolen Friday afternoon from a home on the 21300 block of Ruble Road near Boonsboro.

  • A snow blower and tools were taken from a home on the 18500 block of Maugans Avenue. The property was reportedly worth $4,000.

  • An undisclosed amount of cash was reported taken Saturday after a business was discovered broken into at 12824 Lanes Run Road near Clear Spring

  • A convertible Chrysler Sebring was found vandalized Sunday in the parking lot of Boonsboro High School. The top was sliced and windows were broken.

  • Two vehicles were vandalized Sunday on Orchard Manor Drive in Boonsboro. At 101 Orchard Manor Drive, two tires were slashed on a Dodge Durango. At the nearby recycling center, four tires on a 1990 Honda Accord were slashed.

  • A lime green Huffy mountain bike valued at $160 was reported stolen Sunday from 10812 Brentwood Terrace in Hagerstown.

  • A Mercury Magnum 10-gauge, double-barreled shotgun was stolen Sunday from inside a home in the 22400 block of Jefferson Boulevard.





Pa. man avoids injury in crash


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Spring Run, Pa., man swerved to avoid hitting a deer on Pa. 75 in Fannett Township Saturday, causing his truck to roll, police said.

Pennsylvania State Police said Brent Morton, 40, was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt.

Police said Morton was driving north when a deer ran in front of his truck north of the Willow Hill interchange.




Residents report shots fired


FREDERICK, Md. - Residents at the Country Hill apartment complex in the 1000 block of Heather Ridge Drive reported shots fired early Sunday, Frederick City Police said.

The calls were received at about 4 a.m. Sunday, but police were unable to locate the people involved.

Police asked that anyone with information call officers at the department at 301-694-2100.




Residents face drug charges


FREDERICK, Md. - Frederick City Police charged two city residents Saturday after receiving a neighbor complaint about a Motter Avenue apartment.

Ronald Fuller, 59, and Kimberly Renee DeWolfee, 43, of 1313 Motter Ave., Apt. 115, were both charged with possession of cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.




Three injured in Pa. crash


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Three people were injured in a head-on collision Friday evening on Cumberland Highway in Greene Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said William Brown, 44, of Chambersburg, was driving a 1987 Ford pickup north at 6:25 p.m. when it crossed into the southbound lane and hit a vehicle driven by John Purdy, 66, of Gettysburg, Pa. Police said Brown, Purdy and his passenger, Norma Purdy, 67, of Gettysburg, were taken to Chambersburg Hospital.

A nursing supervisor said Sunday that all three had since been released from the hospital.

Police said Brown, address unavailable, was charged with driving under the influence.




Cops: Man exposes himself


GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police at Chambersburg are investigating an indecent exposure incident near 13999 Williamsport Pike Monday.

Police said an unknown man opened his jacket and exposed himself to a Greencastle woman as she passed by him just after noon. The man was wearing a camouflage jacket, police said.

Pa. police investigating assault


ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police were investigating an assault involving a girl reported late Saturday morning in St. Thomas Township.

Police said the incident was reported at 11 a.m. and was alleged to have occurred at a house on the 1000 block of Hade Road. A 17-year-old girl and a male known to her got into an argument, police said.

Police alleged that the male, who was not identified in the report, grabbed the girl, put a rifle to her head and threatened to kill her before leaving the house.




Tools reported stolen


MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Hand and power tools worth an estimated $3,000 were stolen last week from a Columbia Gas garage at 10750 Welsh Run Road, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Police said a hole was cut in the wall of the garage between 7 p.m. Thursday and 5:30 a.m. Friday.




Man wanted in sexual assault


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - An arrest warrant has been issued for a man charged with statutory sexual assault involving a teenage girl, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Dana Michael Getson, 26, address unavailable, was wanted in a case involving a 13-year-old girl at a home in Guilford Township between July 4 and Aug. 23, police said.




Man charged with statutory sexual assault and corruption of a minor
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Franklin County man was released on $10,000 bond last week after being charged with statutory sexual assault and corruption of a minor, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said Kevin Dale Keefer Jr., 21, address unavailable, of Chambersburg, was arrested Thursday and arraigned before District Justice Larry Meminger. The charges allegedly involve a 13-year-old juvenile and occurred between March 1 and Oct. 6, police said.
