Edna L. Alexander


Edna Louise Lowe Alexander, 85, of 27 Lehigh Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Oct. 12, 1918, in Downsville, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Benjamin and Lula Eliza Miller Lowe.

She was a graduate of Boonsboro High School.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Keedysville.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Haupt Alexander, whom she married Dec. 31, 1939; one daughter, Marcia A. Karn of Hagerstown; one son, Nelson K. Alexander of Hagerstown; and one grandson.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Harold B. Lowe.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. Eleanor S. Doub will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Andrew S. Baker Jr.


Andrew S. "Andy" Baker Jr., 80, of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 13, 1923, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Andrew S. and Goldie I. Snowberger Baker.

He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.

He was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pauline R. Baker; one daughter, Rebecca L. Johnson of Columbia, Md.; one sister, Alice Hessler of Hagerstown; one brother, Lancelot Baker of Hagerstown; and one grandson.

Graveside services, with military honors by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Gardens in Hagerstown. The Revs. Stephen D. Robison and Patricia A. Sebring will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 108 E. Franklin St., Hagerstown, MD 21740; or Meadow Dialysis Center, 12931 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Ida M. Ramey


SHARPSBURG - Ida Marguerite Ramey, 77, of 4013 Mills Road, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 12, 1926, in Leige, Belgium, she was the daughter of the late Pierre and Matidle Horne Briquet.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Linwood Ramey, in 1972.

She was employed by Eda Marie Hair Stylists in Brentwood, Md.

She was of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by her companion, Irving Fischer of Boonsboro; one daughter, Janine Schaeffer of Boonsboro; two sons, Les Ramey of Sharpsburg and Darryl Ramey of New Windsor, Md.; one stepdaughter, Lana Chappell of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Betty Briquet of Jupille, Belgium; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at The Grotto at Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md. The Rev. Jack Lambordi will officiate.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Maryland, 11 Columbia St., Cumberland, MD 21502.

Pauline A. Leitner


Pauline A. Leitner, 80, of 19722 Meadowbrook Road, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 22, 1923, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Pauline A. Karolus Davis.

She retired from Suburban Bank.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Thomas Leitner; one daughter, Cheryl A. Mowen of Hagerstown; one son, Robert T. Leitner Jr. of Stafford, Va.; one brother, Frederick J. Davis of Bel Air, Md.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Vera A. D. Matterson.

Graveside services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Quantico National Veterans Cemetery in Triangle, Va.

There will be no visitation.

Roxanne L. Loveless


FLINTSTONE, Md. - Roxanne L. Loveless, 38, of Flintstone, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at her home.

Born April 16, 1965, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Paul L. Loveless Sr. and the late Constance L. Zimmerman Loveless.

She attended North Hagerstown High School.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her fianc, Carl E. Jackson Jr.; two daughters, Brandy N. Zello of Hagerstown and Laura E. Jackson of Flintstone; two sons, Carl E. Jackson III and Zachary A. Jackson, both of Flintstone; three sisters, Beverly A. Loveless and Brenda A. Crawford, both of Hagerstown, and Shirley M. Schultz of Tunnelton, W.Va.; one brother, Paul L. Loveless Jr. of Flintstone; and one grandson.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty J. Decker.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, North Potomac Street, Hagerstown. The Rev. Nick Britton will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown.

Visitation will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
