FORT LOUDON, Pa. - A Fort Loudon man was killed and another injured in a one-vehicle accident Tuesday night in Metal Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Robert E. Jarrell Sr., 38, of 6882 Path Valley Road, was pronounced dead at 9:57 p.m. at the scene of the accident on the 7100 block of Path Valley Road, according to Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner. He was thrown from the cab of a pickup truck, Conner said.

Conner said Jarrell's body was pulled from a creek and an autopsy was performed Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Medical Center in Allentown, Pa. The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma to the neck "with or without drowning," according to Conner.

Robert Matthew Karavitch, 21, address unavailable, of Fort Loudon was injured in the 9:03 p.m. crash, according to police. He was initially treated at Chambersburg Hospital and later taken to Hershey Medical Center.

A hospital official Wednesday evening said Karavitch was treated and released.

Police said the accident happened at 9:03 p.m. when the truck was traveling south and the driver lost control about four miles south of Fannettsburg, Pa. The vehicle struck several guardrail posts before going over an embankment, police said.

Neither man was wearing a seat belt, police said.

The police report did not indicate which man was driving the pickup and said the investigation was ongoing.
