Thelma M. Hummer


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Thelma M. Barnhart Hummer, 85, of 906 Park St., died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at her home.

Born May 15, 1918, in State Line, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Emmert C. and Mabel J. Gardenhour Barnhart.

She attended Plain Hill School and Green Dale School.

From 1965 until retiring in 1980, she worked at Waynesboro Junior High School and Fairview Elementary School in the cafeteria.

She was a member of Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church in Waynesboro, where she helped with summer Bible School.

She was a member of National AARP.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond A. Hummer Sr., whom she married March 14, 1936; two sons, Richard O. Hummer of Cocoa, Fla., and Raymond A. Hummer Jr. of Waynesboro; two sisters, Lovetta Carbaugh of Chambersburg, Pa., and Armatha Haugh of Waynesboro; one brother, Elwood Barnhart of Waynesboro; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Hager, Madeline Smiley and infant Esther Barnhart; six brothers, Crawford Barnhart, Floyd Barnhart, Glenn Barnhart, Charles Barnhart, Edward Barnhart and infant Stanley Barnhart; and twin granddaughters.

Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Pastors Bill Schuit and Walter A. Stuart will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert E. Sanbower Jr.


GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Robert E. Sanbower Jr., 63, of 9941 Hades Church Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital, following a stroke.

Born Sept. 26, 1940, in Rouzerville, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert E. and Elaine V. Stuller Sanbower.

He attended Washington Township Schools.

He was employed in the dispatcher machine shop at Grove Worldwide for 30 years, retiring in 2001.

He was a member of Eagles Club Inc.; Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15; National AARP; and was a former member and board member of Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He is survived by his wife, Joan K. Fritz Sanbower, whom he married Sept. 6, 1958; one daughter, Darla K. Fessler of Greencastle; two sons, Robert E. Sanbower III of Fort Loudon, Pa., and John M. Sanbower of Waynesboro; one sister, Lizzetta Martin of Williamsport; one brother, Charles Sanbower of Waynesboro; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Robert E. Sanbower III and John M. Sanbower will officiate.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Harvey R. Waldron


RANSON, W.Va. - Harvey Richard Waldron, 77, of Ranson, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, of cancer at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born Jan. 8, 1926, in Lovettsville, Va., he was the son of the late Harvey and Ruth Thompson Waldron.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ludelle B. Penwell Waldron, in 1998.

He was self-employed in the construction and building repair business in Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia, retiring in 1982.

He attended Inwood (W.Va.) Assembly of God Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Joann Mummert of Chickamauga, Ga., and Roxann Carter of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; six sons, Stephen Waldron of Kearneysville, W.Va., William Waldron and Brian Waldron, both of Ranson, David Waldron of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Bruce Waldron and Eric Waldron, both of Charles Town, W.Va.; five sisters, Virginia Swoboda, Lillian Edwards and Agnes Waldron, all of Baltimore, Bernice Summers of Jefferson, Md., and Judy Brown of Boonsboro; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one aunt; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. James Schuelke will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Patricia A. Jones


Patricia A. Jones, 54, of 454 Park Place, Hagerstown, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at her home.

Born March 21, 1949, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Lucy P. Jones of Hagerstown and the late William W. Jones Sr.

She was a 1967 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.

She retired from Potomac Edison Co. in Hagerstown.

She was a member of Ebenezer AME Church, where she served as an usher, steward and missionary.

She was a member of Sharon Temple 160; and was an Avon representative.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by four sisters, Christella E. Keyes of Columbia, Md., Page L. Moten of Orlando, Fla., and Gwendolyn K. Jones and Deborah L. Washington, both of Hagerstown; one brother, Francis A. Jones of Atlanta; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
