Woman injured in Frederick accident

FREDERICK, Md. - Frederick police are investigating a traffic accident on Friday that sent a woman to Washington County Hospital with head injuries.

A news release from the Frederick Police Department stated the woman was injured when the Chevy Celebrity she was driving struck an Infinity at the intersection of North Market Street and Routzahn's Way. The victim was flown to Washington County Hospital, police said.

The names of the drivers were not released and no charges had been filed.

Two Frederick men face drug charges

FREDERICK, Md. - Two Frederick men face drug charges after the Frederick Police Department's Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search and seizure warrant at the home of one of them, police said.

Dion Alexis Freeborn, 24, of 509 N. Market St., and David William Rusk, 21, of 2007 Burnside Drive, were charged Thursday with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia after police allegedly found a quantity of marijuana and several pieces of smoking paraphernalia in Freeborn's home, according to a news release from the Frederick Police Department.

Waynesboro home damaged by fire

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Fire damaged a home at 101 W. King St. in Waynesboro on Friday, according to a news release from the Waynesboro Fire Department.

The news release said the fire, attributed to smoking, started outside in the area of a porch.

A neighbor reported the fire at 10:47 a.m. Friday. Damage to the home was estimated at $1,500, the news release said.

Firefighters from Waynesboro, Greencastle, New Franklin and Blue Ridge Summit in Pennsylvania and from Smithsburg and Leitersburg responded.

Four charged in two drug stings

Hagerstown police charged four people in connection with two drug sting operations Thursday night and Friday morning, according to a news release.

Mark Edward Plotner, 31, of 126 Fairground Ave., Hagers-town, was charged with marijuana distribution, marijuana possession with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Plotner is accused of selling marijuana to a police informant Thursday night in the first block of East Baltimore Street, police said.

Albert Henry Houston, 41, of 310 N. Potomac St., Hagers-town; Jason Andrew Lucas, 26, of Bel Air, Md.; and Curtis Frederick Reigh Jr., 25, who has no known address, were charged with single counts of purchasing fake drugs, police said.

Between midnight and 3 a.m. Friday, Houston, Lucas and Reigh are alleged to have purchased a crack cocaine look-alike from an undercover police officer at the intersection of Murph Avenue and North Jonathan Street.

Houston and Reigh were at the Washington County Detention Center Friday night. No information was available on the status of Plotner and Lucas.

One injured in interstate accident

One person was taken to Washington County Hospital Thursday evening after an accident on an Interstate 81 ramp near Hagerstown after a light pole fell across the roadway, Maryland State Police said.

Police said the pole was obstructing a ramp of northbound I-81 onto eastbound U.S. 40. Vehicles had slowed to drive around the fallen utility pole when a driver rear-ended another driver at about 6:57 p.m., according to reports.

Neither driver was identified.
