Patriots fall in state semis

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Quince Orchard topped Thomas Johnson 25-12, 23-25, 25-12, 25-16 in the Maryland Class 4A state semfinals on Tuesday night.

Erin Maldo had 14 kills, four blocks and seven digs for the Patriots (13-5), while Nicole Bagano had four kills, three digs and 15 assists. Bethany Springer added five blocks and five digs for TJ.


Muto, Mills named to All-CAC team

Salisbury University, the 2003 Capital Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament champion, placed six players, including two former local athletes, on the all-conference team.

Forward John Muto, a North Hagerstown High grad, was named to the first team while Chris Mills, a South Hagerstown grad, was named to the second team.


Salisbury (15-2-2) will begin first-round play at the NCAA Division III Tournament on Friday.


Central Pa. all-star game set for Sunday

The 23rd annual Central Pennsylvania Scholastic Soccer All-Star Game is set for Sunday at Shippensburg University.

The North will play the South at 4:30 p.m., followed by the East vs. the West at 6:30.

Greencastle-Antrim's Matt Mohler and Daniel Oliver, James Buchanan's Tyler Appleby and Anthony Bard and McConnellsburg's Scott Earley are on the South team, while Chambersburg's Caleb Davis and Waynesboro's Zach Tanner and Nick Kipe are on the West side.
