Man charged with battery on officer

November 11, 2003

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Bunker Hill, W.Va., man was charged with battery on a police officer and obstructing an officer Monday after he shaped his hand like a gun, pointed his finger at a state trooper's head and threatened to kill him, police alleged.

Randol Green, 37, was in Eastern Regional Jail on $10,000 bail Monday night, according to a jail spokeswoman.

West Virginia State Police Trooper R.A. Spearen II responded Monday afternoon to Shutt's Market on W.Va. 51 in Inwood, W.Va., after Green's wife said her husband had a hammer and she was afraid he was going to hit her with it, according to court records.

When Spearen spotted Green, Green took his coat off and waved his arms at the trooper, acting as if he wanted to fight, police allege.
