The owner of Ravenwood Lutheran Village in Hagerstown now has full ownership of The Village at Robinwood.

Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries of Allentown, Pa., bought Washington County Health System's interest in the retirement and assisted living community.

"With planning under way for the proposed regional medical center, we felt that our energies would be better spent focusing on the health system's core business, providing quality care for our patients," Health System President and Chief Executive Officer James P. Hamill said in a prepared statement.

The change positions Diakon for offering its Hagerstown retirement services as a continuing care retirement community, which provides the full continuum of residential accommodations and services for older persons, the release states.

Diakon spokesman William Swanger said there will be no changes for now, but Diakon officials will review how they want to configure services at Ravenwood and The Village at Robinwood now that they own both.

The Village at Robinwood opened across the street from the Robinwood Medical Center in September 2000.

The assisted living center has 70 studio and one-bedroom suites, with 12 of those suites in a special wing for Alzheimer's patients.

The Village also is building independent living cottages, with plans to eventually have 70 cottages, Swanger said.
