Local workshops will focus on financial aid

November 10, 2003

Hagerstown Trust, in conjunction with the Parent Teacher Student associations of Smithsburg and North Hagerstown high schools, will present two local workshops called "How to Pay for College."

The first workshop will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Smithsburg High School, and the second workshop is slated for Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. at North Hagerstown High School. The workshops are open to the public and are not restricted to parents of current high school students. Parents of middle school students also are encouraged to attend.

Herm Davis, executive director of the National College Scholarship Foundation, will be at the workshops. Davis has been in the field of financial aid and scholarship information for higher education for more than 25 years and is the author of "College Financial Aid for Dummies." Davis will provide insight on the completion of the FAFSA forms required for student financial aid for college.

Representatives from Hagerstown Trust also will be on hand to provide information to parents about college loan programs available through the bank and other services the bank provides to assist families.
