Hagerstown firefighter is charged in accident

November 08, 2003

A Hagerstown firefighter was found at fault in an Oct. 26 traffic accident that disabled a parked car on Elm Street, according to the Hagerstown Police Department.

Anthony Wayne Delosier was charged with negligent driving, which carries a $275 fine, Hagerstown Police Lt. Margaret Kline said. Delosier has the option of paying a fine, requesting a disposition hearing or appealing the citation in a District Court hearing.

Hagerstown Fire Deputy Chief Ron Horn said Delosier was training on West End Truck 4 during the accident, and it was not an emergency call.

Horn would not disclose if Delosier would be disciplined, saying personnel matters are not public. He said city insurance would cover the damage.

Delosier was the rear driver of the two-driver ladder truck that hit the parked car, Kline said.

Kline said that at about 11:22 a.m. on Oct. 26, the city firetruck was making a turn from Locust Street onto Elm Street and Delosier overcompensated when making the turn, striking a vehicle owned by Mary Ann Lynch of 325 S. Locust St.

The vehicle had to be towed.
