Repair work may cause water loss for residents

November 07, 2003|by ANDREW SCHOTZ

Up to 100 people could lose water this morning as the City of Hagerstown fixes a leak in the 500 block of Jonathan Street. The leak was found Thursday.

City spokeswoman Karen Giffin said Jonathan Street water district customers from Church Street to Pennsylvania Avenue could lose water service at around 10 a.m. today while a crew works on the problem.

The city planned to release an update this morning, Giffin said.

The leak was the second that the Water and Sewer Department found on Jonathan Street during its annual water leakage survey of the city's distribution system.

The first leak, on a 24-inch line between West Washington and West Franklin streets, was fixed Thursday, Giffin said. Customers from Antietam Street to Church Street were affected during that repair.
