Commissioners, planners meeting set

The Washington County Commissioners and the Washington County Planning Commission will hold a joint rezoning hearing on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m.

The hearing will be held at the Washington County Courthouse in Courtroom 1.

Commissioners will not meet next week

The Washington County Commissioners will not meet next Tuesday, which is Veterans Day.

Veterans Day is a county holiday.

Two new county workers introduced

Washington County Human Resources Administrator Dee Hawbaker introduced two new employees to the County Commissioners at Tuesday's meeting.

Robert Franklin is plant operator trainee in the Department of Water Quality, and Kathleen Hedstrom is an office associate in the State's Attorney Office.


Water quality contract awarded

The Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday awarded a Department of Water Quality contract for a pump control system to a Harmans, Md., company.

Freemire and Associates received the $33,500 contract.

The equipment will be used in an upgrade to the Maugansville Pump Station, which has been nearing capacity, according to a county document.

Motor and industrial oils contract awarded

The Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday awarded a Winchester, Va., company a $59,873 contract for motor and industrial oils.

The commissioners awarded the one-year contract to H.N. Funkhouser & Co.

The Washington County Board of Education, Hagerstown Community College and the City of Hagerstown piggybacked onto the bid.

Appointments made

The Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday reappointed Richard Roulette and Mary Myers to the board of directors of the Public Golf Corporation.

Both were reappointed to second three-year terms. Their current terms expire on Nov. 30.

The County Commissioners also appointed William Ruland to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee.
