HUNDRED, W.Va. - Hancock rushed for 347 yards and forced four turnovers as the Panthers routed Hundred 44-0 Friday night to remain in the thick of the Maryland Class 1A West playoff race.

Jordan Sterner led the Panthers (5-4) with 148 yards and three touchdowns, while Josh Ruppenthal had 70 yards and a score and Ryan Joy had 63 yards and a TD. Hancock quarterback Jaret Trail totaled 83 yards, including 48 on the ground, and a touchdown.

Sterner and Ruppenthal led Hancock's defense - which allowed just 50 total yards - with 11 tackles each, while Kenny Clark and Dylan Shives each had an interception in the win.

No. 3 Walkersville 41 Century 14

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Antoine Crawford rushed for 122 yards on 15 carries as Walkersville rolled past Century in the MVAL Piedmont.


With the win and Francis Scott Key's loss, the Lions (7-2, 3-1) guaranteed themselves a spot in the Maryland Class 2A West playoffs.

Dave Berry rushed for 43 yards and a touchdown and passed for 69 yards, including a 29-yard score to Mark Ferro, for Walkersville. Ferro had two interceptions, one of which was returned 28 yards for a touchdown. Justin Duncan also had a touchdown in the win.

South Carroll 32 No. 4 Catoctin 6

THURMONT, Md. - T.J. Swanson completed 14 of 24 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns and South Carroll (8-1) remained on track for a playoff bid in Class 2A West with a victory over the Cougars.

Joe Rakoski led Catoctin (6-3) with 136 yards rushing on 14 carries. Mike Campbell scored the Cougars' only TD on a 1-yard plunge in the fourth quarter.

No. 5 Frederick 62 North Carroll 0

FREDERICK, Md. - Bruce Dorsey rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown as Frederick routed North Carroll in the MVAL Chesapeake.

Roger Gilgeorge rushed for 57 yards and two touchdowns and Rafael Chrichlow had 78 yards and a score for the Cadets (5-4, 3-2). Quarterback Brian Lanning passed for 139 yards and two touchdowns, one to Billy Gross and another to Quentin Beard, and rushed for 53 yards and a score.

The Frederick defense forced six turnovers, led by Dallas Pryor, who recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown and had two sacks, and Anthony Blackwood, who had two interceptions.

No. 7 St. John's-PH 48 Fairfield 6

FREDERICK, Md. - Keith Ricca passed for 408 yards and five touchdowns as St. John's at Prospect Hall routed upstart Fairfield.

St. John's led 16-6 and scored the final 32 points of the game.

Max Morris caught 12 passes for 210 yards and three touchdowns while Randel Smedley caught one touchdown and ran 32 yards for another.

Rob Haynos caught seven passes for 71 yards and a score for St. John's (6-3).

MSD 56, St. James 0

FREDERICK, Md. - Maryland School for the Deaf improved to 10-0, while St. James fell to 1-7.

Miles Chan led the Saints with 37 yards rushing on 11 carries and had seven solo tackles on defense.

Urbana 16, FSK 3

UNION BRIDGE, Md. - Eric Lentz caught a 27-yard touchdown pass and Steven Anderson had a 4-yard rushing score as Urbana clawed past Francis Scott Key.

FSK was within six points until Anderson puched it in during the fourth quarter, sealing the victory for Urbana (8-1). Justin Butts tackled FSK's Josh Rutter in the end zone for a safety for the Hawks' first points of the game.

Rutter finished with 15 carries for 86 yards for the Eagles (5-4).

Greencastle 34 Shippensburg 20

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Dustin Mowen rushed for 164 yards, caught two touchdown passes and rushed for another to lead Greencastle past Shippensburg in a Mid-Penn Colonial matchup.

Brett Hoffman had two 1-yard touchdown runs and Blake Border passed for 216 yards for the Blue Devils (4-6, 3-4).

Nick Spencer had touchdown receptions of 16 and 43 yards for Shippensburg (2-8, 1-6).

East Pennsboro 28 Waynesboro 3

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Jesse Kastelic rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns as East Pennsboro strolled past Waynesboro in the Mid-Penn Colonial.

Dan Etter also had a touchdown run and Mickey Shuler caught an 8-yard touchdown from Jason DeLutis for the Panthers (7-3, 5-2).

Wes Phebus had 69 total yards and Zach Tanner kicked a 37-yard field goal for Waynesboro (0-10, 0-7).

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Tracy Hinkle had 14 aces and nine assists and Kierra Nelson had five blocks and five kills as North Hagerstown topped Winters Mill in the first round of the Class 2A West playoffs, 25-16, 26-28, 25-16, 25-14.

The Hubs (10-9) host third-seeded Middletown in the quarterfinals on Monday.

Hancock 3, Beall 1

CUMBERLAND, Md. - Hancock dropped its first game but won the final three to eliminate Beall from the first round of the Class 1A West playoffs, 21-25, 25-23, 25-15, 29-27.
