Farm ordinance approved

October 29, 2003|by TARA REILLY

The Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday approved a Right to Farm Ordinance, which protects the agricultural community from neighbors' complaints about farming odors and related concerns.

Under the ordinance, purchasers and users of properties near farms would be notified of the potential inconvenience of those farms, including noises, odors, dust, flies, chemicals, smoke and vibration that might occur during any 24-hour period.

The ordinance goes into effect Jan. 1.
