Development proposals sought for warehouse

October 28, 2003|by SCOTT BUTKI

The City of Hagerstown is seeking proposals from developers for buying and redeveloping the 9,000-square-foot Tusing Warehouse at 58 E. Washington St., Hagerstown Economic Development Director Debbie Everhart said Monday.

The city bought the property in downtown Hagerstown for $110,000 in 1997, she said in a prepared release.

Since March 2000, the volunteer board planning the Discovery Station museum has paid $1 a year to lease the vacant, three-story brick building.

The group canceled the lease with the city earlier this year, saying it was looking at a larger property.

Qualified developers of the city-owned property would be eligible for financial benefits.

Proposals are due by Jan. 5.
