N.J. man dies in crash on Pa. Turnpike


LAUREL GROVE, Pa. - A New Jersey man was pronounced dead at the scene of a Friday night accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, according to Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner.

Ricardo H. Aarons, 38, of 23 Harvard St., East Orange, N.J., died of blunt force head trauma in the 10:46 p.m. accident east of the Kittatinny Tunnel in Metal Township, Conner said. Two other people were taken to Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, but Conner had no other information on them.

Pennsylvania State Police from the Newville, Pa., barracks, which patrols the turnpike, investigated the accident, according to Conner.

Conner said Aarons was driving a late-model sport utility vehicle in the eastbound lanes when it overturned. Aarons was wearing a seat belt, the coroner said.




Man's condition still critical after shooting


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A man who suffered a gunshot found to the face at a strip bar and nightclub Saturday was listed in critical condition Sunday evening.

Shawn Hailey, 22, of Winchester, Va., was being held at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., in critical condition, a hospital spokesman said.

Berkeley County Sheriff's Deputies said Hailey was shot during an altercation outside of the KC's Leather & Lace club south of Martinsburg early Saturday. Deputies said a fight inside the club ended up in the parking lot, where several shots were fired.

Deputies said Darrin K. Edwards, 28, of Stephens City, Va., also suffered a gunshot wound that required surgery Saturday.

A City Hospital spokeswoman said Edwards was treated and released Sunday.




Missing teen sought


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police at Chambersburg are asking the public for help in finding a teen who has been missing for several months.

Police are seeking information on the disappearance of Shianne Esterline Jackson, 16, whose address was not released. Police said Jackson, who ran away from home in the past, failed to return home from school on May 14. There is no suspicion of foul play in the incident, according to police.

Jackson is a black female, 5 feet 6 inches tall weighing 140 pounds with black, shoulder-length hair, brown eyes and a burn mark on her left cheek. She was last seen wearing a blue hooded jacket, a red shirt and light blue jeans.

Police are asking anyone with information about her to call 717-264-5161.




Robbery investigated


The Hagerstown Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred Saturday in the 200 block of South Potomac Street.

Police said two men grabbed the victim and demanded money at approximately 11:30 p.m. Police said the victim was able to break away from the suspects, but not before they took his coat.

Police did not have a detailed description of the assailants.
