Music, auction, lots of horseplay will benefit Star Community

A Barnyard Jamboree, featuring the bands Possum Holler, Forgiven and Common Clay, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Star Community, 13674 Greencastle Pike, Hagerstown.

There also will be riding demonstrations including the 4th Virginia Cavalry, Saddle Up Ministries and the Potomac Dancers. The arena will be the site of several fun competitions including a "horsey" costume contest, egg and spoon races, and races of the stick horse variety.

Jamboree guests may test their skill on the mechanical buckin' bronco, Thunder Bull, for $5.

A silent auction will be held with more than 50 items including holiday decorations, pewter, jewelry, silk arrangements, a CD player, handmade furniture, a sculpture by artist Lorenzo Ghiglieri, and other items.

Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for ages 5 to 13, and 5 and younger are admitted free.
