Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting last week that left a man in critical condition, Charles Town Police Sgt. Steve Harris said Friday.

Jackie Robinson of Charles Town, who is in his 30s, was unresponsive and on life support at an area hospital Friday, Harris said.

Police did not want to reveal the location of the hospital for Robinson's protection.

The shooting occurred Oct. 10 at the intersection of West and Weirick streets in Charles Town, Harris said.

When police arrived that evening, no one was there but there was evidence of a shooting. Robinson later checked himself into the hospital for treatment of an apparent handgun wound, Harris said.

Witnesses to the shooting helped police identify two suspects, Harris said.

Ian Andre Carr, 32, of Kearneysville, W.Va., was charged with malicious wounding with a firearm, Harris said. He was taken into custody Thursday at 818 Salem Ave. in Hagerstown, city police there said.

Leonard Dwayne Gilmore, 25, of Ranson, W.Va., was charged with aiding and abetting the crime, Harris said. He was taken into custody on West Washington Street in Charles Town on Friday afternoon.

Harris declined to speculate on a motive or release other details about the crime. Others may have been involved in the incident, he said.

"We've basically been working around the clock since this happened," Harris said. "The key thing here was a lot of eyewitnesses," he said.
