PREP FOOTBALL



BALTIMORE - Keith Ricca passed for 344 yards and five touchdowns as No. 6 St. John's at Prospect Hall defeated the Friends School 38-15 in a Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association C Conference game on Friday.

Ricca, who surpassed the 2,000-yard mark for the season, hooked up with Max Morris for touchdowns of 43 and 57 yards in the third quarter to help the Vikings (5-2, 3-2) outscore the Quakers 24-2 in the second half. Morris finished with eight catches for 177 yards.

Scott Ritter also had two TD receptions, his only catches of the game, and Randal Smedley had a 34-yard touchdown catch in the win.

Charles Whitman and Will Harring each had touchdown rushes and Tom Whelley recorded a safety in the fourth quarter for Friends (2-5, 1-3).

Frankfort 33 No. 7 Berkeley Springs 6


SHORT GAP, W.Va. - Sam Castillo rushed for three touchdowns to lead Frankfort past Berkeley Springs.

Marcus Haines and Eric Spiroff each added a TD run for the Falcons, who amassed 411 yards of offense against the Indians' 197 yards.

Nate Mason ran 8 yards for the only score of the night for Berkeley Springs.

West Perry 34 Greencastle-Antrim 14


GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Greencastle played West Perry even for 36 minutes, with the game tied 7-7 heading into the final quarter.

Then things began to crumble for the Blue Devils, as the Mustangs (7-1, 4-1) scored 27 fourth-quarter points, on scores of 55, 61, 26 and 30 yards. Greencaslte had no answer for West Perry's big plays, as it turned the ball over four times, twice deep in Mustangs territory.

West Perry quarterback Kyle Ream completed five of 12 passes for 113 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown strike to Derek Frye. Ream also ran for 60 yards and a touchdown. Jesse Shaeffer carried seven times for 75 yards and also scored in the victory.

Dustin Mowen led the Blue Devils (3-5, 2-3) with 167 total yards of offense and two touchdowns, the first and last scores. Brett Hoffman rushed for 70 yards and Blake Border passed for 107 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

CD East 19 Chambersburg 14


COLONIAL PARK, Pa. - Devon Lutz returned a kickoff 94 yards for the winning touchdown as Central Dauphin East slipped past Chambersburg in a Mid-Penn Commonwealth matchup.

Chambersburg (1-7, 0-6) scored on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Hinkle to Ben Overcash to give the Trojans a 14-13 lead to open the fourth quarter.

The Panthers (4-4, 3-3) quickly got the lead back on Lutz's kickoff return. Allan Danato and Eric Brackus each rushed for touchdowns for CD East.

Hinkle, who passed for 131 yards, also threw a 66-yard touchdown to Tyler Perry just before halftime. Perry led the Trojans on the ground with 59 rushing yards. Vinnie Schaffer had four catches for 39 yards in the loss.

Northern York 54 Waynesboro 0


DILLSBURG, Pa. - Northern recovered six Indians fumbles and turned five of the turnovers into scores, as the Polar Bears routed winless Waynesboro in the Mid-Penn Colonial.

Northern (5-3, 4-1) scored on all five of its posessions in the first half to build a 34-0 halftime lead. The Polar Bears outgained the Indians 304-18, led by Mike Romagnoli's 65 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Justin Knisley and Scottie Davies each ran for two scores and Bradon Adams recovered three fumbles in the victory.

Michael McKenzie had 24 yards on the ground for the Indians (0-8, 0-5).




BOYS SOCCER



No. 3 North 3 No. 10 Walkersville 1


North Hagerstown scored all of its goals in the second half to erase a 1-0 halftime defecit and defeat Walkersville.

Brandon Bell scored the game-tying and go-ahead goals for the Hubs (10-2), who outshot the Lions, 14-9. Mikael Tigrett scored North's final goal on an assist from Ed Dumpe. Dylan Snell also had an assist and Brian Williamson had three saves in the win.

Brian Beard scored unassisted and Patrick Scovira had four saves for the Lions (6-5-1).

JV: Walkersville, 1-0.

Grace 12, Faith 2


Alex Lehman, David Hardcastle, Jonathan McNamee, A.J. Serafini, Ryan Myers and Jordan Hanft all scored as Grace Academy defeated Faith Christian Academy.

Hardcastle, Serafini, Hanft, Andy Eyler and Darren Sweeney each had an assist, while Jack Sharkey had three saves for the Knights (14-3).

Middletown 2, Urbana 2


IJAMSVILLE, Md. - Joe Keimig and Bobby Riggs each scored for Middletown as the Knights tied Urbana.

Ben McMunn had an assist and Philip Buhrman had six saves for Middletown (7-4-2).

Dan Orson scored twice for Urbana, which rallied from a 2-0 deficit.




PREP VOLLEYBALL



No. 7 Southern Fulton 3, St. Maria Goretti 0


Katie Merica had 16 service points and three aces and Cajan Woodal had 12 service points and two aces for Southern Fulton (15-3) in its 25-8, 25-11, 25-19 win over St. Maria Goretti.

Grace 3, Faith 0


Melissa Malatak had eight kills, Kristin Serafini had 15 assists and Megan Cox had 10 service points for Grace Academy (8-7, 7-6) in the Knights' 25-17, 25-12, 25-21 sweep of Faith.




MEN'S SOCCER



HCC 2, Frederick 0


Anthony Dowell and Filip Simic each scored as Hagerstown Community College shut out Frederick.

Matt Myers had an assist and Sean Hunt had eight saves for the Hawks (6-6-1).
