New Girl Scout troop considered for town

CLEAR SPRING - A new Shawnee Girl Scout Council troop may be starting up soon in Clear Spring.

At Monday night's monthly town meeting, Timothy Bonds inquired about the availability of the town hall for such meetings, which his wife wants to start.

"We already let a Cub Scout pack use the room on Thursday nights at no cost, so the same would be available for you," Town Clerk Juanita Grimm said.

She told Bonds that the troop leader must sign a lease agreement and show that the troop has insurance through the Shawnee Girl Scout Council.

Water bills, with rate hike, are in the mail

CLEAR SPRING - A computer glitch that held up the quarterly water bills has been fixed and the bills - which reflect the new, increased water rates - will be mailed out this week, Town Clerk Juanita Grimm said Monday.

The new rates required new software and when it first arrived, it failed to work, Grimm said. But the problem has been solved.

In-town water customers now will pay $46.25 per quarter and out-of-town water customers will pay $69.40 per quarter.

The old rates, which were steady for the past 10 years, were $18 for in-town customers and $27 for out-of-town customers.
