October 13, 2003

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Camp Hill, Pa., woman died Thursday night of injuries she received in a Hamilton Township, Pa., accident earlier that day in which a Chambersburg man was killed.

Mary M. Urich, 75, was a passenger in a 1992 Jeep Cherokee driven by K. Donald Fields, 69, of 563 S. Fourth St. Fields was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred at 4:11 p.m. on Warm Spring Road near the Angle Road intersection, according to Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner.

Urich was flown to Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, where she died late Thursday, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Fields and Urich were driving north when a southbound Dodge Ram pickup driven by Ronnie L. Hartman, 48, of Chambersburg, skidded into the opposite lane. Police said the brakes of Hartman's vehicle, which was towing a trailer, had locked up and the truck spun counter-clockwise.

Hartman was not injured, according to police. Conner said Hartman had swerved to avoid another vehicle prior to the head-on collision.
