Ben Miljour scored goals on assists from Jeb Shramm and Anthony Aziz as St. Maria Goretti blanked Grace Academy. Kevin Brashears recorded 10 saves for the Gaels (6-8).

Jack Sharkey had seven saves for Grace (12-3).

Mercersburg 2, Hill School 2

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Johan Hillergren scored off an assist from Zander Hartung and Matt Diller connected on a penalty kick for Mercersburg, as the Blue Storm (5-4-1, 1-2-1 MAPL) tied Hill (9-1-3).

Ian McClintick had 15 saves for Mercersburg.

SJPH 5, Glenelg Country Day 1

FREDERICK, Md. - Junior striker Joe Potocek scored all five goals for St. John's at Prospect Hall on Friday, getting assists from Jeremy Gould, Kevin Isaak, Lewis Kim and Quinn Miller.


MSD 3, Mercersburg 0

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Maryland School for the Deaf swept Mercersburg Academy, 25-15, 25-16, 25-19.

Jessie Migan had 16 digs for the Blue Storm (6-4), while Melissa McCartney had 38 assists.



Hagerstown 3, Cecil 0

Meggie Miller had 11 kills and 17 digs and Keri Jackson had 16 kills and 12 digs to lead Hagerstown Community College in a sweep of Cecil Community College, 30-16, 30-16, 30-17. Shea Storms had 39 assists in the victory for the Hawks (16-2).


Lawrence third at Lancer

NEW MARKET, Md. - Thomas Johnson's Marshal Lawrence was the area's highest finisher at the Lancer Invitational at Kemptown Park, placing third in the boys race in 16:58.

Urbana's Kurt Kuehne won in 16:32, while Middletown's John Coconis finished sixth (17:06) and Chet Fearon was 16th (17:33).

TJ's Chelsea Powell was the only area runner to crack the top 20 in the girls race, placing fifth in 20:57. Wootton's Michelle Levy won in 19:03.

Urbana won the boys team title with 73 points, while Middletown was sixth (173), Jefferson 11th (299), Walkersville 13th (326), TJ 16th (388) and Frederick 18th (445).

Westminster was the girls winner with 76. Jefferson was seventh (193), Frederick 11th (295), TJ 14th (351) and Walkersville 15th (354).


Mont.-Rockville 2, HCC 1

ROCKVILLE, Md. - Filip Simic scored on an assist from Sean Beyard, but it wasn't enough as Hagerstown Community College fell to Montgomery-Rockville on Friday. Sean Hunt recorded 10 saves for the Hawks (4-5-1).


Green golden on battlefield

SHARPSBURG - West Virginia University freshman Jake Green, a 2003 Jefferson High graduate, won Shepherd College's fifth annual Running Rams Homecoming 5K Saturday at Antietam National Battlefield in 16 minutes, 38 seconds.

Tim Marshall, 40, Winchester, Va., was the runner-up in 17:25, while Hagerstown's Maria Spinnler, 41, was the women's winner in 19:14.
