The Youngbloods


Mr. and Mrs. John Robert Youngblood Sr. of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., were honored at an open house celebration for their 50th wedding anni-versary Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at the J.O.U.A.M. Lodge Hall in Berkeley Springs. They also marked the occasion by renewing their wedding vows in a ceremony officiated by the Rev. Wayne Frum. The reception was hosted by their three children and families, John Robert Jr. and Tonya Youngblood of Falling Waters, W.Va., Wilson and Debbie Youngblood of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Sonja and Daniel Waters of Martinsburg, W.Va. Guests attended the event from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.

The Youngbloods were married Aug. 1, 1953, at Washington Square Methodist Church in Hagers-town by the Rev. Charles LeFee, now deceased.

Mrs. Youngblood is the former Eldena Ruth Norris, daughter of the late Alberta Norris Forshaw and Eugene E. Norris. She is a homemaker.

Mr. Youngblood is the son of the late Susan V. Spiker and John E. Youngblood. He retired in 1987 after 25 years of working at Mack Trucks Inc. in Hagerstown.

They have three grandchildren.




The Poffenbergers


Phil and Jane Poffenberger celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this summer at a family dinner attended by their brothers, sisters, children and grandchildren.

The Poffenbergers were married June 13, 1953, at St. Paul's Evangelical United Brethren Church, now Otterbein United Methodist Church. Bishop Joseph Yeakel officiated.

Mrs. Poffenberger is the former Jane Lochbaum, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. "Locky" Lochbaum.

Mr. Poffenberger is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Poffenberger.

They both retired from Washington County Public Schools.




The Troupes


James A. and June C. Troupe celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at a dinner in their honor at Old South Mountain Inn in Boonsboro. The event was hosted by their sons, Allan Troupe and Mark Troupe, Mark's wife, Angela Troupe and the couple's two grandsons.

The Troupes were married Aug. 1, 1953, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Clear Spring.

Mrs. Troupe is the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Griffith. She was employed by Victor Products. She is a homemaker.

Mr. Troupe is the son of the late J. Russell and Josephine Troupe. He is a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired in 1988 from Troupe's Gulf/Chevron Service Station in Clear Spring where he was owner and operator.
