Teens returned to juvenile facility

October 07, 2003

Two of three teens, believed to be from Baltimore, who escaped from Oak Hill House early Sunday returned to the Hagerstown facility Monday, a Washington County Sheriff's Department spokesman said Monday evening.

Charlie Allen Schiebe, 15, and Leon Britton, 16, returned to Oak Hill House on their own Monday, the spokesman said. The third teen, Papo Jose Cruz-Diazsda, 15, still is missing, according to the spokesman.

The teens were reported missing from Oak Hill House, 12806 Independence Road, near Clear Spring, at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, deputies said.

Cruz-Diazsda was last seen wearing blue jeans and a flannel shirt, deputies said.

At 11:30 a.m., a 1996 Ford Explorer was reported stolen from 14901 Rufus Wilson Road, in what deputies believe may have been a related incident, according to Sgt. Mark Knight. Knight said the owner left the keys inside the sport utility vehicle, and reported it was stolen overnight. The home is about a mile away from Oak Hill House.

Knight said the time frame and locations of the incidents indicate a possible link.
