October 06, 2003

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A woman charged with the theft of approximately $3,000 in Girl Scout cookie receipts was arrested Saturday, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Christina M. Thompson, 30, previously of 247 Hamilton Ave., Greencastle, was arrested at her current address of 14886 Sherwood Drive, Greencastle, according to police. She was arraigned before District Justice Gary Carter in Chambersburg, Pa., Saturday afternoon and jailed on $20,000 bond.

An officer at Franklin County Prison said Sunday that Thompson posted bail on Saturday.

Thompson is charged with theft by unlawful taking and theft by failure to make required deposition of funds received, according to court records. The Chambersburg field office of the Penn Lauren Girl Scout Council was listed as the victim in the affidavit filed last week with District Justice Shirley Shatzer's Office in Greencastle.

According to court records, Thompson collected $4,867.80 from the sale of Girl Scout cookies. She was supposed to deposit the entire amount in an account at First National Bank of Mercersburg (Pa.). Instead, she allegedly deposited only $1,867.80 on April 3, court records stated.
