Hagerstown City Councilman N. Linn Hendershot's stay at Washington County Hospital has been extended to at least Monday while he receives more treatment for a respiratory infection, he said Friday morning.

Hendershot, who breathes through a ventilator, was listed in fair condition Saturday.

Hendershot said he was admitted to the hospital Sept. 25 after suffering shortness of breath while attending a Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce event. While in the hospital, he is being treated intravenously with an antibiotic, he said.

On Tuesday, Hendershot said he expected to be released by Saturday. The change in his release date is because of a change in the antibiotic being used, he said.

Hendershot said that about two weeks ago, he spent about two days in the hospital for treatment of the same infection. He said this was the third time this year he has had to be treated at the hospital.
