Bertha V. Lowman

Burial for Bertha V. "Ga" Guessford Lowman, 85, of 1414 W. Church St., Hagerstown, who died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, will be today in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown following noon services at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home in Hagerstown.

Christopher J. Hook

Christopher J. Hook, 3, of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 18, 2000, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of Chad M. and Nancy Stot Hook of Hagerstown.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Amber E. Stot; a brother, Brian M. Hook; grandparents Vicki Demory of Martinsburg, W.Va., Daniel Hook Sr. of Cumberland and Helen and Charles Stot of Lonaconing, Md.; and two uncles.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Martinsburg.

Kevin R. Dunnigan

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Kevin Richard Dunnigan, 43, of Hedgesville, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at his home.


Born May 3, 1960, in Wobourn, Mass., he was the son of Richard and Sally Dunnigan of Virginia Beach, Va., and the late Catherine Carbone Dunnigan.

In addition to his father and stepmother, he is survived by his wife, Deborah Marques Dunnigan; a daughter, Cassandra M. Dunnigan at home; a son, Kevin D. Dunnigan of Morgantown, W.Va.; four sisters, Cindy Black, Susan Anderson and Laura Gerber, all of Virginia Beach, and Leslie Hamilton of South Carolina; and three brothers, Rick Dunnigan of Triangle, Va., Stephen Dunnigan of Newport News, Va., and Brian Dunnigan of Virginia Beach.

Services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at South Berkeley Chapel Funeral Home in Inwood, W.Va. The Rev. Raymond D. Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Gerrardstown Presbyterian Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jean L. Swindell

NEEDMORE, Pa. Jean L. "Jeannie" Swindell, 58, of 287 Back Ridge Road, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at her home.

Born Aug. 7, 1945, in Harrisonville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ira and Clara E. Daniels Mellott.

She was a homemaker.

She attended Harrisonville Holiness Church.

She is survived by her husband, John R. Swindell Sr., whom she married Dec. 1, 1971; a daughter, Iva L. Swindell of Needmore; a son, John R. Swindell Jr. of Breezewood, Pa.; a stepson, Dale W. Watkins of Chambersburg, Pa.; a sister, Goldie King of Chambersburg; three brothers, Simon Mellott of Chambersburg, William Mellott of Five Forks, Pa., and Robert Mellott of McConnellsburg, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha DeShong, and a brother, Roy Mellott.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home in Harrisonville. The Rev. Toby Mellott will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Cemetery in Harrisonville.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 2 p.m. Visitation also will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rhoda G. Miller

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Rhoda G. Miller, 95, of Menno Haven and formerly of 346 S. Sixth St., died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at Menno Haven.

Born March 14, 1908, in Pen Mar, Md., she was the daughter of the late Cyrus M. and Ettie Virginia Bender Walck.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell T. "Jack" Miller, in 1994. They were married June 29, 1932.

She attended the former Greencastle (Pa.) High School.

She was a cafeteria worker for the Chambersburg Area School District, retiring in the early 1970s.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg.

She was a member of AARP.

She taught an adult education evening sewing class at Chambersburg High School.

She is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Picking of Marion, Pa.; two grandchildren, Joan Fortney of Hagerstown and James E. Picking of Chambersburg; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Menno Haven in Chambersburg. Chaplain Robert Keener and the Rev. Dianne B. Salter will officiate.

Private burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.

The viewing will be private.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Robert M. Blickenstaff

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Robert M. Blickenstaff, 73, of 15282 Bowman Court, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born March 17, 1930, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Milo and Flora I. Hoover Blickenstaff.

He was employed as a machine setup operator by Mack Trucks in Hagerstown.

He retired after 20 years of service with the U.S. Air Force. He was a veteran of the Korean War.

He was a friend of the Bill W. organization.
