Scout leader charged

An arrest warrant was issued Friday for a Greencastle-area Girl Scout troop leader who has been charged with taking $3,000 in proceeds from the sale of Girl Scout cookies, according to court records in District Justice Shirley Shatzer's office.

The whereabouts of Christina M. Thompson, 30, whose last known address was 247 Hamilton Ave., is unknown to police, court records said.

Thompson is charged with two counts, including theft by unlawful taking and theft by failure to make required deposition of funds received, according to court records.

The Girl Scouts was listed as the victim.

According to records, Thompson collected $4,867.80 from the sale of Girl Scout cookies. She was supposed to deposit the entire amount in an account at the First National Bank of Mercersburg in Mercersburg, Pa. She deposited only $1,867.80, court records stated.

Thompson provided officials at the Girl Scouts Penn-Laurel Council Inc. at 550 Cleveland Ave., Chambersburg with a deposit slip showing the entire $4867.80 was deposited, court records said. Bank Records verified that only $1,867.80 was deposited in the Girl Scouts account.

Penn-Laurel Council officials could not be reached for comment Friday.
