Second public hearing on rezoning scheduled

October 03, 2003

The Washington County Board of County Commissioners and the Washington County Planning Commission will hold a second joint public hearing Wednesday beginning at 6 p.m. in the South Hagerstown High School auditorium for the purpose of taking continued testimony on proposed rezoning of the rural portions of Washington County and amendments to the Comprehensive Plan's Land Use Map.

This is a continuation of a Sept. 15 hearing.

Amendments to the Comprehensive Plan Land Use Map will be presented. The amendments are for the purpose of adjusting Growth Area Boundaries and aligning boundaries between the rural policy areas with the proposed zoning.

All interested people, either in support of or in opposition to the proposed revisions, will have the opportunity to be heard. Those who signed up to speak but were not heard during the Sept.15 hearing will be heard first.

Copies of the proposed text amendments and map amendments are available for review in the Planning Department, 80 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, or on the County's Web site at www.washco-md.net under "County News."
