HERSHEY, Pa. - Chambersburg's Andrew Burke and Clayton Rotz were medallists in the Mid-Penn Conference Tournament at Hershey Golf Club to qualify for the district tournament at Briarwood Golf Club Oct. 10-11.

Burke and Rotz each shot 75 as the Trojans posted a five-man team total of 399, good for first place. Scott Kegerreis shot 79, Chas Rahauser 84 and Darryn DeShong 86. Krista Tressler shot 91 in the girls division to earn a district berth.

Waynesboro's Kevin Reiber and Chad Bricker shot 76 and 79 respectively to qualify for the districts in individual competition. However, Bricker will not play due to a prior committment in which he will participate in the national Buick Scramble Finals in Orlando, Fla.

Martinsburg wins Region III team title

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Martinsburg won the Class AAA Region III team championship and qualified for the West Virginia state championship next Tuesday and Wednesday in Wheeling on the Speidel Course at Oglebay Park.


Trevor Hedges led the Bulldogs with a 78 over the Stonebridge Golf Course on a cool and windy day. Martinsburg, looking to improve its sixth-place finish in the state tournament last year, will also have Sam Harrison, Drew Petrucci and J.C. Quinn making the trip as a team.

Jefferson shot 350 as a team, Musselman 363 and Hedgesville 379.

Jefferson sophomore Brian Collins will make his first state tournament appearance as he qualified as an individual on a non-team entrant by posting an 81.


Greencastle 3, Trinity 0

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Greencastle swept Trinity in three straight games, 25-11, 25-9, 25-20. Jessica Statler led the win with eight points, four aces, 16 digs and six kills. Jessica Ritchey added six kills, six points, and four aces for the Blue Devils.

Catoctin 3, Walkersville 0

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - The Cougars bested Walkersville (1-5) in three games, 25-10, 25-19, 25-12. Kelly Stiles led Catoctin (5-2) with five aces and six kills. Katie Campbell added three aces and four assists, and Becky Peters contributed three aces.

James Buchanan 3 Shippensburg 0

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - James Buchanan (11-0, 9-0) stayed undefeated as they outscored Shippensburg, 25-16, 25-11, 25-17. Ashley Helfrick had 22 digs and 13 kills, Tiffany Hunsberger had 11 service points and Lindsey Crider had 29 assists for JB.

Middletown 3, Boonsboro 0

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Middletown (5-1) held the advantage over Boonsboro (6-1), 27-25, 25-16, 25-15. Kristin Young led with 23 assists, Jill Martin had eight kills, and Allison Jarkey had seven kills for Middletown.

CVCS 3, Heritage 1

Heather Stamper had 11 assists and Heidi Stamper added 20 digs for Heritage Academy (9-3, 7-3) in the Eagles' 25-20, 20-25, 25-17, 25-14 loss.

So. Fulton 3, Everett 1

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Kaylie Mellott had 12 kills, 13 service points and three blocks while Loni Layton added nine kills and four blocks and Candace Bard had 13 service points for Southern Fulton (8-2) in its 25-5, 25-17, 26-28, 25-19 win.

Clear Spring 3, Brunswick 0

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Lindsay Fiedler had 15 service points while Jill Shupp had 12 service points, five aces, nine assists and four kills in the Blazers' 25-22, 25-12, 25-15 sweep of Brunswick.

Sherri Bryan tallied 11 service points and Kara Hofe added five kills for Clear Spring (5-1).

McConnellsburg 3 Tussey Mountain 0

SAXTON, Pa. - Heidi Swope led McConnellsburg with 12 service points and 22 assists as the Spartans defeated Tussey Mountain.

Gretched Swope had 10 service points, Lindsay Lininger added 13 kills and three blocks and Cara Carmack recorded 12 kills and five blocks for the Spartans (9-0).

Broadfording 3 Faith Christian 0

Jessie Fath had 14 aces for Broadfording in its 25-13, 25-14, 25-9 win. Rebecca Conner had five aces and eight assists and Tina Conner had five aces and eight kills for Broadfording.

Williamsport 3, Linganore 0

Staci Grabill led Williamsport to a 25-11, 25-10, 25-17 win over Linganore with 21 service points, five aces and six assists. Sammi Snodderly added seven kills while Katie Saufley had 10 service points for Williamsport.

Grace Academy 3 Shalom Christian 2

Danielle Sowers had five kills and Kristen Serafini had six assists to lead Grace Academy over Shalom Christian, 20-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22 and 16-14.


Broadfording 6, Faith 3

MARTINSBURG, W. Va. - Kyle Brown led the Lions with three goals and one assist as Broadfording (3-6) defeated Faith (0-9). Andy Lytle and Zack Fraker each scored one goal and had two assists for the Lions. Faith was led by Scott Goff with two goals and one assist.

Catoctin 3, South 1

Ken Henchcliffe and Dennis Hill both had a goal and an assist to lead Catoctin.

Ben Whitney also scored while Adam Crone had an assist for the Cougars. Terrence Cavey scored for the Rebels (0-9).

North 7, Boonsboro 1

BOONSBORO - Brandon Bell and Mikael Tigrett each had a hat trick and an assist for North Hagerstown.
