Charles M. Hann


GALLITZIN, Pa. - Charles M. Chalmer Hann, 44, of 103 Skupien Court, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at his home.

Born June 5, 1959, in McConnellsburg, Pa., he was the son of Janet Hockensmith Hann of McConnellsburg and the late Chalmer L. Hann.

He worked as a rod buster in the construction industry.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

He was a member of American Legion Post 174 of Gallitzin; and VFW Post 7618 of Gallitzin.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Joyce Stains Hann, whom he married Aug. 25, 1984; one daughter, Jasmine T. Hann of Gallitzin; two sons, Charles M. Hann II and Joshua Q.C. Hann, both of Gallitzin; four sisters, Norma J. DeShong and Cathy McDaniel, both of McConnellsburg, Cynthia Ketchens of Big Pool, Md., and Roberta Wambaugh of Hellam, Pa.; one brother, Joseph P. Hann of McConnellsburg; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home in McConnellsburg. Pastor Dan Porterfield will officiate.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.




Frank E. Semler Sr.


SMITHSBURG - Frank E. Semler Sr., 90, of Comanche Drive, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Aug. 6, 1913, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late George and Catherine Smith Semler.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lucille Warrenfeltz Semler, in 2003. They were married Jan. 23, 1932.

He was a self-employed farmer.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hagerstown.

He is survived by two daughters, Carol Craig and Vickie J. Stang, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Frank E. Semler Jr. and Charles Ronald Semler, both of Smithsburg; one brother, Donald Semler of Staten Island, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward Heim will officiate.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg.




Minerva G. Miller


WILLIAMSPORT - Minerva Geraldine Miller, 78, of Williamsport, Md., died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport.

Born Sept. 14, 1925, in Washington County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Preston Berger and Ruby Elizabeth Miller Snodderly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Edward Miller, on September 15, 1982.

She was a member of Salem Reformed Church in Cearfoss, Md.

She is survived by her loving and caring companion, Earl Gooding of Hagerstown; one daughter, Carol E. Gehr of Hagerstown; three grandchildren, Michael L. Gehr of Hagerstown, Amy S. Ingram of Sharpsburg, Md. and Christopher E. Gehr of Chesapeake, Va.; four great-grandchildren, Gunnar E. Ingram, Madison N. Ingram and Brady P. Ingram, all of Sharpsburg, and Katja R. Gehr of Chesapeake.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Steve Wagoner will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

The family requests the omission of flowers; memorial donations may be made to Salem Reformed Church, Building Fund, 13182 Salem Church Road, Hagerstown, MD 21740.




Isabel O. Peer


McGAHEYSVILLE, Va. - Isabel O. Peer, 78, of McGaheysville and formerly of Charles Town, W.Va., died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003.

Born in Havre de Grace, Md., she was the daughter of the late Sam and Elizabeth D'Faglio Orsini.

She was a 1943 graduate of Charles Town High School.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Charles Town.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Nelson Peer; one daughter, Cindi Fisher of Estero, Fla.; one niece; one nephew; one great-nephew; and one aunt.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Orsini.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St James Catholic Church in Charles Town. The Rev. Brian Owens will be celebrant. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town.

There will be no visitation.

Wayman T. Peterson


SMITHSBURG - Wayman T. "Pete" Peterson, 85, of Smithsburg, Md., died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.

He was born July 27, 1918, in Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George H. Peterson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Julia Kohler Peterson of Hagerstown, Md.

He is survived by his three children, Susan Miller, Karen Mann and Kent Peterson, all of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter. He also is survived by his sister, Muriel E. Peterson; and brother, Jon Peterson of Fort Lauderdale.
