Born March 29, 1948, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late James Edward Harrison and Eleanor Rae Virginia Bowman Ashkettle.
For the past 17 years, she was employed by Good Humor-Bryers Ice Cream Co. in Hagerstown.
She was of the Catholic faith.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene E. "Joe" Bowers, whom she married March 9, 1968; one sister, Bonnie L. Barnhart of Maugansville; one brother, Edward A. Ashkettle of Hagerstown; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Theresa Clark.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg. The Rev. W. David Kent will officiate. Burial will be in Welsh Run Brethren Cemetery, Welsh Run, Pa.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Austin C. Barron
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Austin Crumb "Doc" Barron, 68, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.
Born March 23, 1935, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Carroll and Lena Miller Barron.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Ann Haynes Barron.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Anderson Barron; one daughter, Teresa Sperow of Martinsburg; three sons, Dale Barron of High View, W.Va., Jeffrey Barron of Roanoke, Va., and Michael G. Barron of Martinsburg; one stepdaughter, Robin Edwards of Martinsburg; two sisters, Betty Waters and Pearl Elliott, both of Martinsburg; two brothers, Roger Barron of Martinsburg, and Herman Barron of Rippon, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sisters, brothers and one grandson.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Revs. John Frattarola and David Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Buddy L. Kackley
GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - Buddy L. "Pete" Kackley, 69, of Gerrardstown, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Dec. 17, 1933, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Cloyd Kackley Sr. and Virginia Anderson Kackley.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Texie V. Smith Kackley.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda D. Anderson of Baltimore, and Deborah A. Kackley of Charles Town, W.Va.; one son, Robert L. Kackley of Gerrardstown; two brothers, Ernest Kackley of Maryland, and John Kackley of Martinsburg; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a close friend, Teresa Layburn of Romney, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Cloyd Kackley Jr.
Military graveside services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Needmore, Pa.
Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Martinsburg, WV 25401.

Karl J. Shindledecker
FORT LOUDON, Pa. - Karl Jay Shindledecker, 39, of 7934 Path Valley Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at his summer home in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Aug. 27, 1963, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of James C. and Ann H. Horner Shindledecker of Fort Loudon.
He was a 1981 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School, where he was a member of the cross country and track teams, running in district events. He attended Hagerstown Junior College.
He was a self-employed framing carpenter, working mostly in the Frederick, Md., and Washington, D.C., areas.
He attended Faith United Methodist Church.
He was a former Boy Scout of America, and a member of the family hunting club in Cameron County, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Matthew J. Shindledecker of Windsor, Calif.; one niece; twin nephews; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. Lynn D. Trutt will officiate.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
