Baltimore County police take city woman into custody

August 29, 2003

Baltimore County Police this week took into custody a 41-year-old Hagerstown woman who was wanted on a warrant charging her with child abduction, Maryland State Police said.

While investigating a child sexual assault case involving the woman's 9-year-old daughter on Tuesday, police discovered the Baltimore County Police Family Crimes Unit had a warrant against the woman, police said.

The girl's father had been granted custody of the daughter by the court, police said.

The woman had picked up her daughter at a Baltimore County school without permission at the end of the first day of school and brought the child to the Hagerstown area, police alleged.

The Herald-Mail is withholding the woman's name to protect her daughter's identity.
