Spoiler stolen from car; trunk damaged


A spoiler was stolen from a 1992 Pontiac Grand Am GT and the car's trunk was damaged , according to a report to the Washington County Sheriff's Department Monday afternoon.

Damage to the trunk was estimated at $200 and the spoiler was valued at $200, police said.

The car was in the 13200 block of Independence Road west of Hagerstown, police said.




Man charged in chase to stand trial


A 70-year-old man waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Washington County District Court Tuesday on charges connected to a three-state police chase on July 29, court records say.

The case against Julian Basil Foster Sr., of 155 Main Street in Dimock, Pa., will go to Washington County Circuit Court.

Police filed more than a dozen charges against Foster, including two counts of first-degree assault, in connection with the July chase through Frederick County, Va., Berkeley County, W.Va., and Washington County, where his Dodge truck collided with two police vehicles, according to Maryland State Police.

The crash on Interstate 81 and a subsequent scuffle outside the man's truck sent the driver and two state troopers to Washington County Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said.




Fight over fence leads to charges


QUINCY, Pa. - A dispute over a fence Friday escalated into a fight involving three men, a chainsaw and a shovel, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Charges of recklessly endangering another person, harassment and criminal mischief were filed against Derick L. Thompson, 34, of 9122 Tomstown Road, police said.

Daren L. Misner, 32, of 9128 Tomstown Road, and Jeremy K. Fager, 20, address unavailble, of Smithsburg, were issued citations for harassment, police said.

Police said Misner had built a fence that Thompson believed was on his property. Thompson allegedly cut down the fence with a chainsaw and, when Misner confronted him, swung the saw at Misner, police alleged.

Police said Misner had a scratch on his elbow and allegedly hit Thompson with a shovel, but did not injure him.

Fager, who was a guest of Thompson, spit in Misner's face, police alleged.

Damage to the fence was estimated at $150 police said.




Woman charged as accessory to stabbing


The Washington County Sheriff's Department has charged an 18-year-old woman in an Aug. 16 stabbing.

Investigator Greg Alton said Christina M. Johnston of 18775 Diller Drive in Hagerstown, was charged with accessory to attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault.

Alton said Johnston was at the scene of the stabbing with Eric King, who police have charged in the stabbing of Adam Rowe, 29, of Boonsboro. Deputies allege that she drove King away from the area before deputies arrived.

Deputies charged King, 25, of Islip Terrace, N.Y., with attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, according to court records.

Deputies were called to the Sheetz store at 100 E. Potomac St. at about 3:40 a.m. on Aug. 16 for reports of a fight. Rowe was found in front of Tony's Pizza at 10 E. Salisbury St., with non-life-threatening stab wounds.
