Blanche E. Ford


HARMONY, Md. - Blanche E. Ford, 88, of Harmony, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at Northhampton Manor in Frederick, Md.

Born in Frederick County, Md., she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Summers Ropp.

Her husband, Clarence E. Ford, died in 1997.

She was a member of Harmony Church of the Brethren.

She was active in the Harmony Recreation Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Jane Ballam of Harmony; one grandson, John Ballam of Bradford, Avon, United Kingdom; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Harmony Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Tracy Wiser will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Ricketts Funeral Home, Myersville, Md.

Donald E. Keatts Sr.


Donald Edward Keatts Sr., 44, of 27 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born March 16, 1959, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Layne Thomas and Josephine Writt Keatts.

He is survived by one daughter, Christina L. Smith of Hagerstown; one son, Donald E. Keatts Jr. of Elwood City, Pa.; three sisters, Linda Weiford of Dundalk, Md., Debra Offenbacker of Clear Spring and Jacqueline Keatts of Hagerstown; four brothers, Arnold Staubs of Charles Town, W.Va., and Layne Keatts, Charles Keatts and David Keatts, all of Baltimore; three grandchildren; and his fiance, Ronda Waters of Hagerstown.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Staubs.

A memorial service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. Donald Writt will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Glen Haven Cemetery, Glen Burnie, Md.

There will be no viewing.




Nellie M. Keys


Nellie Mae Keys, 80, formerly of Hagerstown, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at Spring Brook Nursing Home in Silver Spring, Md.

Born March 3, 1923, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Earl and Mary Ashby Banks.

Her husband of 56 years, Vincent R. Keys Sr., died June 22, 2002.

She obtained a master's degree in mathematics from the University of Maryland.

She retired after teaching in Washington County Public Schools for 30 years.

She was a member of Zion Baptist Church, Hagerstown, and was active on committees.

She was a member of the Maryland State Teachers Association, and had been a member of Beaver Creek Country Club, Hagerstown.

She is survived by one son, Vincent R. Keys Jr. of Columbia, Md.; one granddaughter, Tabitha L. Keys of Bowie, Md.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Zion Baptist Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. Haru Carter will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, North Potomac Street, Hagerstown.

Memorial donations may be made to Zion Baptist Church, 61 W. Bethel St., Hagerstown, MD 27140.




Esther M. Clevenger


FORT LITTLETON, Pa. - Esther Mae Clevenger, 59, of 29169 Great Cove Road, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at Fulton County Medical Center.

Born Sept. 20, 1943, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Edgar M. and Blanche Hoover Clevenger.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Lincoln Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg.




Kathleen H. Myers


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Kathleen Helen Myers, 72, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003.

Born June 26, 1931, in Detroit, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Sarah Caperton Myers.

She is survived by two daughters, Ruby G. Brock of Stanford, Ky., and Dale H. Miller of Martinsburg; two sons, Norman H. Smith Jr. of Piedmont, Ala., and Vladimir A. Smith of Martinsburg; three sisters, Margaret Saczko of Minnesota, Martha Myers of Michigan and Nellie Ross of Martinsburg; two brothers, Douglas Myers of Michigan and Jeffry Myers of California; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Cornerstone Bible Church. The Revs. John Frattarola and Chester Brock will officiate. Burial will be in Gerrardstown Presbyterian Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at noon at the church.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.




Mary L. Hogan


Mary Lois Hogan, 84, of 13328 Marsh Pike in Hagerstown, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at her home.

Born Feb. 21, 1919, in Altoona, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Clinton I. and Helen Marie Funk Fleegle.

Her husband, Paul Hogan, died in 1972.

She was employed as a secretary at Paramount Elementary School from 1964 to 1984.
