Margaret G. Sherman


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Margaret Grace Wetzel Sherman, 74, of Waynesboro, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born Feb. 17, 1929, in Emmitsburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Amos and Mary Hull Wetzel.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Clyde Donald Sherman, in 1996.

She attended Emmitsburg schools.

She was a homemaker.

She had been a volunteer at Rouzerville, Pa., Ruritan Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda K. Perry of Iron Station, N.C.; four sons, Larry D. Sherman of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Rodney W. Sherman of Hagerstown, Kenneth E. Sherman of San Antonio, and Kevin M. Sherman of Waynesboro; three sisters, Betty Martinez of Alvord, Texas, Mary Reed of Waynesboro, and Nancy Reed of Mont Alto, Pa.; two brothers, Amos Wetzel of Waynesboro, and Russell Wetzel of Mont Alto; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Leland.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro. The Rev. Philip Van Dam will officiate. Burial will be in Harbaugh Church Cemetery near Rouzerville.

There will be no public viewing. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Julia M. Thompson


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Julia M. Thompson, 87, of 650 Guilford Ave., and formerly of Williamsport, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Aug. 31, 1915, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Nellie Henneberger Appenzellar.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Thompson, in 2001.

She was a seamstress for 20 years at U-Wanna Wash Frock in Fort Loudon, Pa.

She attended the Church of God in Greencastle, Pa.

She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Sweeney of Greencastle; three sons, William R. Simmons Jr. of Exeter, Pa., Charles R. Simmons of Bear, Del., and Robert Silvers of Corapeake, N.C.; two brothers, Harry Appenzellar of Chambersburg, and David Appenzellar of Hagerstown; 28 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in Chambersburg. The Rev. Floyd Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday at 10 a.m. The funeral home will open Thursday at 2 p.m.




Richard N. Price


MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Richard N. Price, 76, of 200 Faust St., Room 108, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at his home.

Born Sept. 6, 1926, in Mercersburg, he was the son of the late Lynn and Virginia Burhanan Price.

He had been employed by the Mercersburg Academy Infirmary.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

He attended Bethel AME Church in Mercersburg.

He was a member of Lewis H. Himes Post 830 American Legion of Mercersburg; Frank L. Carbaugh Post 373 American Legion of Greencastle, Pa.; St. Thomas Sportsman Association; and the National Rifle Association.

From the 1940s to the 1950s, he sang with the gospel group the Jordan River Boys.

He is survived by one daughter, Darlene Fweeting; three sisters, Karen Dixon of Greencastle, Pa., and Charlotte L. Vargas and Joanna R. McCullough, both of Mercersburg; four brothers, Jack Price, Abner Price of Pinesville, La., and Art Price and Herb Price, both of Mercersburg; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Price; and two brothers, Cloyd Price and Kenneth L. Price.

A memorial service will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home in Mercersburg. The Rev. Dwayne Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Union Cemetery in Mercersburg, with military services by Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 of Chambersburg.

There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jennet L. Rosenberger


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Jennet L. Rock Rosenberger, 97, of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and formerly of 8437 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro, Pa., died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at the nursing home.

Born Sept. 2, 1905, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Effie Mae Rock Rock.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Daniel P. Rosenberger, in 1991. They were married June 15, 1929.

She attended Blue Rock School.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church in Waynesboro, the Women's Bible Class, the Missionary Society and the choir.
