Plenty to see and do at Jefferson, Franklin fairs

FRANKLIN COUNTY FAIR

The 2003 Franklin County Fair continues today with admission of $4 for adults, $3 for children and free for all children less than 3 feet tall.

Today


  • 4 p.m. - Youth rabbit show

  • 6 p.m. - 4-H rabbit showmanship

  • 6:30 p.m. - Little Miss Contest

  • 7 to 10 p.m. - Ride all night for $7

  • 7:30 p.m. - Horse pull in the arena

  • 8 p.m. - Miss Franklin County Fair Queen Contest

  • 8 p.m. - 4-H and FFA Dairy Judging


Tuesday, Aug. 19


  • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Judging of exhibits in all areas. Buildings will not be open for visitors.

  • 9 a.m. - 4-H Dairy Round-up

  • 4 p.m. - 4-H and FFA Goat Show

  • 6 p.m. - 4-H and FFA Junior Steer and Heifer Show

  • 6 to 7 p.m. - Registration for Youth Barnyard Olympics in the arena

  • 7 p.m. - Youth Barnyard Olympics

  • 7:30 p.m. - Talent Contest

  • 7:30 p.m. - Blue Ribbon baked-goods sale


Wednesday, Aug. 20


The 2003 Franklin County Fair continues today with admission $4 for adults, $3 for children and all children under three feet tall admitted free.

  • 7 p.m. - Skid Steer Rodeo

  • 8:30 a.m. - Jefferson County 4-H horse showmanship

  • 1 p.m. - Beef showmanship and judging

  • 6 p.m. - Carnival area opens

  • 6 p.m. - Kiddie tractor pull

  • 7 p.m. - Karaoke contest

  • 7 to 10 p.m. - Ride all night for $7


Tuesday, Aug. 19


  • 4:30 p.m. - Sheep dog demonstration

  • 6 p.m. - Carnival area opens

  • 6:30 p.m. - 4-H, FFA, FCCLA bake auction

  • 7:30 p.m. - Figure 8 demolition derby

  • 8:30 p.m. - Watermelon-eating contest


Wednesday, Aug. 20


  • 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Senior citizens admission ($1)

  • 1 p.m. - Dairy cattle showing

  • 6:30 p.m. - Antique tractor pull

  • 7:30 p.m. - Tammy Cochran Show (track seats $5)

  • 8 p.m. - Ice cream-eating and milk-drinking contests
