Cindy Lou Bloyer, 45, of Hagerstown, died early Saturday morning from injuries she received a few hours earlier while walking along National Pike, U.S. 40, Maryland State Police said.
Bloyer had left the 40 West Lounge and was walking on U.S. 40, which runs in front of the tavern, when she was struck by a sport-utility vehicle, said Maryland State Police Trooper 1st Class Robert Fraley.
Emergency crews were called about 9:35 p.m. to the 16000 block of U.S. 40. Bloyer was taken by ambulance to Washington County Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 12:43 a.m. Saturday.
Fraley said while residents have complained about speeding being a problem in the area, it was not a factor in Friday's accident and no charges would be filed against the driver, Joanne Ellis, 50, of Hagerstown.
