Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"We the people of Broadfording Road at the bridge, paid our taxes, the county closed our bridge. Those 20 extra miles costs in gas. If we need 911, would we get an ambulance in time, it will probably be too late. We probably wouldn't even see a snow plow and they call this a Snow Emergency Route."

"I understand that August is Child Support Awareness Month. I hope that Social Services is aware of all the women who are behind in their support. Nothing ever seems to be done with the women, if it were the men, they are put in jail. Please make this system fair."

"I am calling about a letter to the editor about not being able to get work release or get help finding a work release job while in prison. Boo hoo, you shouldn't have committed the crime to begin with. But then again, nobody in jail really did the crime they are accused of."

"Why are the people in the Cedar Lawn area allowed to have their junked untagged vehicles in their yards?"

"I have been hearing that Washington County Schools now have a dress code. I have two children in public schools and I was wondering if someone could tell me what the new dress code is. I wasn't sent a letter or anything and I would like to know what is going on."

"There is an article in D6 of Monday's paper. There is an article about a pit bull attacking and killing a 2-week-old baby in Baltimore. The boy's uncle said that the dog had never been vicious and was a gentle 3-year-old dog. Boy that sounds like a familiar comment. He also says that he was always very good with the baby. On another note, I just got $1,200 from the government. Thanks Mr. President."

"Here we go again, Herald Mail Sports Department. No line up for the race on Sunday, but then we look in Monday's paper, they had the results of the class and field, but no lap leaders. Someone get the sports department on the ball."

"Can someone give Boonsboro residents a phone number to call get a Dollar Store or some kind of cheap store because we have absolutely nothing?"

"When you buy a phone card, prepaid for, if you keep it too long, you lose all your money. I think they shouldn't do this."

"Why not have a meeting for the citizens in the community regarding Section 8. With all the talk about the misconceptions about it, why not have a forum for Section 8."

"To Tim Rowland, you should have done some more research before you wrote your truly awful story about the pit bulls. The child was mauled to death Friday in Baltimore by a pit bull. There is nothing funny about the child's death, there is nothing funny about the death of the dog, 'Tony.' None of this belongs in the realm of humor. It is tasteless, senseless and juvenile. This is what your column reflected, your utter immaturity."
