Armatha M. Grim


Armatha Marie Grim, 76, of Hagerstown, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born July 15, 1927, in Dargan, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Arthur and Sarah Irene McGowan Grim.

She was a Protestant.

She is survived by three sisters, Patsy Ferguson of Mt. Rainier, Md., Doris Bressler of Raleigh, N.C., and Delores MacGilliuary of Boston; and one brother, Dallas Grim of Baltimore.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Grim.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry, W.Va. The Rev. Douglas Fraim will officiate. Burial will be in Samples Manor Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Ruth J. Leslie


Ruth Josephine Miller Leslie, 84, formerly of Jefferson Boulevard, Hagerstown, and Trego, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.

Born Jan. 22, 1919, in Yarrowsburg, she was the daughter of the late Martin Edgar and Rosa Bell Holmes Miller.

Her husband, Cyres E. Leslie, died in 1979.

She formerly was employed at Victor Products in Hagerstown.

She was a member of Chewsville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Carlton E. Leslie, with whom she formerly resided; two granddaughters, Sandra K. Leslie of Elkhart, Ind., and Cheryl A. Leslie of Hagerstown; two great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Lapole and Mary Best; and one brother, Delmas M. Miller.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant View Cemetery, Rohrersville. The Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro.




Nancy C. Ardinger


Nancy Carolyn Monn Ardinger, 66, of 17611 Stone Valley Drive, Hagerstown, slipped away and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 28, 1936, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Monn Sr. and Alice Lenora Kuhlman Monn.

She was a 1954 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

She was employed by Home Federal Savings Bank for 16 years. Prior to that, she was president of Ardinger Computerized Design Engineering Inc. for eight years.

She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Temple. She was an accomplished pianist and vocalist and sang in several church choirs, performing numerous solos.

She had many hobbies, raised flowers, did landscaping and loved animals and birds. She was a past assistant Girl Scout leader in Boonsboro.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, James Eugene Ardinger, whom she married on Dec. 28, 1956. She is survived by three daughters, Dawn Kay Brooks of Jersey Shore, Pa., Bonnie Lee Wendel of Smithsburg, and Cynthia Carolyn Milgrim of Ashburn, Va.; two sons, James Kenneth Ardinger of Williamsport, and David Shawn Ardinger of Hagerstown; two sisters, Nellie Virginia Keplinger and Betty Lee Monn, both of Hagerstown; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Monn Jr.

Services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Temple, 1621 National Pike, Hagerstown. The Rev. Larry G. Aikens will officiate. Burial will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone, Md.

The family will receive friends at the church following the service on Tuesday evening.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Temple.

Arrangements are being handled by Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home.




Freda M. Kennedy


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Freda M. Kennedy, 84, of 649 N. Franklin St., died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at Manorcare Health Services.

Born June 23, 1919, in Fayetteville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Martha Wingert Perry.

She was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot during the Korean War.

She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Frank B. Kennedy; five daughters, Patricia McCleary and Nancy Robertson, both of Chambersburg, Gladys William and Donna MacDonald, both of Stockton, Calif., and Barbara Myers of Joppatowne, Md.; one son, F. Ben Kennedy Jr. of Lexington, Tenn.; two sisters, Vera Huff and Betty Mercer, both of Chambersburg; two brothers, Jere Perry of Fayetteville, and Robert Perry of Chambersburg; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg. The Revs. Christopher Little and Gary Culler will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Thursday.

Gregory S. Shorb


IJAMSVILLE, Md. - Mr. Gregory Scott Shorb, 45, of Ijamsville, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at his home after a yearlong battle with cancer.

He was the husband for 20 years of Joan T. Helfrick Shorb.
