Allegheny Energy has new executive

Allegheny Energy Inc. announced Thursday that Paul E. Slobodian, the former president of Pivot Consulting, LLC, has been named vice president of Human Resources and Administration of Allegheny Energy, effective immediately.

He succeeds Richard J. Gagliardi who retired earlier this month.

"We are pleased that Paul is joining the Allegheny senior management team. He brings to our company extensive experience in all aspects of human resources management and organizational development, as well as a strong history of linking performance to business results," said Paul J. Evanson, Allegheny Energy's chairman, president, and chief executive officer.

In 2002, Slobodian established Pivot Consulting, LLC, an organizational development and human resources consulting firm. Previously, he was vice president of Human Resources and Total Quality for Universal Instruments Corporation, a division of Dover Technologies International.

Slobodian is a graduate of Boston University, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree and a doctor of education. He received a master of science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management.

He is an adjunct faculty member for the School of Management at the State University of New York in Binghamton.
